Webmentions are a way to link blogs and social media conversations via mechanisms on our own sites.

All of my work with webmentions is based on Jeremy Keith's writeup, and I use a modified version of his submission form to collect mentions. Automated webmention tools should be able to discover my submission script, allowing you to register a mention without using this form. And thanks to Ryan Barrett's Brid.gy, I can collect mentions from conversations on Twitter, too. Cool.
