An image showing Peloton instructor Jess King in a pink top with her right hand on her hip. She has long red hair and is standing against a black background. The card has a bit of ride information, including the title, Sweat Steady Ride, the date of August 29, and the length, 30 minutes. It includes a small dotplot of heart rate during the ride, which gradually increased to the orange zone a couple of times.

I’ve been making some small visualization and operation improvements to RideShare, my little Shiny app for making shareable cards from my Peloton rides. I discovered the API for more detailed heart rate data and incorporated that into the display, and made a couple of changes to speed up the history display. These were fun small updates to work on!

Shiny black handlebars of an e-bike with a small digital display at the top of the stem. In the background is the green bike lane marking of an intersection where the bike is safely stopped.

I’m hoping to replace as many of my grocery and around-town trips with a bike, and I tried out some e-bikes yesterday. This was really fun.

A Peloton ride share image, showing Matt Wilpers fist-pumping. It is a power zone endurance ride, 45 minutes long, and shows most of the time I was in the yellow heart rate zone (zone 3).

I haven’t posted one of these for a while. I enjoyed this morning’s indoor ride. It’s nice to be back on the “good” bike after being away for much of the summer.

An indoor bicycle, a Peloton, photographed from the front at a low angle. A pair of black cycling shoes sit next to it on a light blue mat.

My weekly indoor rides at the old gym used to be my favorite thing each week, my 5am community. I hesitated on getting an indoor bike for such a long time and I’m happy I finally went for it.

I’m curious if any of my micro.buddies use an indoor cycle of any kind: Peleton or other setup, a trainer, etc? I miss my hard spin sessions and am finally thinking of cramming a bike in the house somewhere. 🚴
